GEORGE HILL

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR & FOUNDER

George Hill trained at the world-renowned Royal Ballet School in London, dancing with the Royal Ballet and touring nationally with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

He earned the prestigious Lynn Seymour Award for Expressive Danceand was named a finalist for Young British Dancer of the Year (2003). In 2004, he represented the UK as a Royal Academy of Dance Adeline Genée finalist at the iconic Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Greece.

Upon graduation, George’s career took him across Europe, Asia, and America as a member of both the Semperoper Ballet in Germany and the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam.

His repertoire features principal and soloist roles in timeless classics including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, La Bayadère, Giselle, and The Sleeping Beauty. He has also worked with some of the world’s most influential contemporary choreographers such as William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, and Mats Ek.

Eager to expand beyond the opera house, George starred in the German premiere of Tabaluga the Musical and returned to London’s West End to create and lead in McQueen The Play at the Haymarket Theatre, Piccadilly.

He also held a regular performance slot at The London Cabaret Club.

His commercial work includes dancing in music videos for The 1975 and Sticky Fingers, acting in television and film dramas, and international modelling for leading fashion houses Prada, Jil Sander, and Moschino.

As a sought-after educator, George is regularly invited to guest teach and lecture worldwide. His credits include speaking at the International Dance Teachers’ Association, the International Dance Teachers Convention, and Move It, London — inspiring the next generation of dancers through his wealth of professional experience.

SUE HILL

DIRECTOR & FOUNDER

With over 40 years of experience in dance, fitness, and performing arts education, Sue Hill is a nationally recognised dance educator and a pioneer of inclusive dance based in Bath, UK.

She has dedicated her career to promoting dance for health, well-being, and personal development, shaping the careers of thousands of students across the South West.

Sue began her professional career on stage before becoming a leading figure in the 1980s UK dance fitness movement.

Working with FitPro, she helped shape national fitness training and safety standards.

Her innovative teaching led to a collaboration with the Royal Osteoporosis Society, where she developed one of the UK’s first elderly dance programmes in care homes—improving mobility, balance, and confidence for seniors through therapeutic movement.

Returning to university in her 40s, Sue achieved a First-Class Honours Degree in Dance and Education, specialising in inclusive dance for underrepresented communities. She has worked tirelessly to make dance accessible to all ages and abilities, ensuring everyone can experience its physical, emotional, and social benefits.

Sue continues to mentor emerging dance educators, choreographers, and studio owners, supporting the growth of Sue Hill Dance branches across the UK.

Her legacy is carried forward by a thriving network of alumni making an impact in dance, theatre, and education both nationally and internationally.

FACILITIES

BDC Theatre College is a leading performing arts and dance training college based in the historic Victoria Hall in Radstock, near Bath.

The building underwent extensive and sympathetic renovation in 2013, transforming it into a professional training environment with four bright, fully equipped dance studios and a large theatre-style performance space with tiered seating. This inspiring setting provides students with the perfect place to develop their technical and artistic dance skills.

Our studios are fitted with ballet barres, mirrors, top-quality sprung floors, and advanced sound systems, ensuring a professional standard of dance training. Several studios also feature pianos to support musical theatre and contemporary performance classes.

The 100-seat studio theatre offers regular performance opportunities throughout the year, allowing students to perform live and gain valuable stage experience.

BDC Theatre College also provides excellent student facilities, including spacious changing rooms and secure lockers.

Located in the heart of Radstock, the college is within walking distance of local shops and a large Co-op.

Convenient transport links include regular buses from Bath (every 15 minutes)and dedicated college buses serving Bristol, Keynsham, Shepton Mallet, Frome and Bath.

Around the corner from the college, Bath Dancewear offers professional pointe shoe fittings and dance uniform essentials, giving students everything they need right on their doorstep.
